"God gave me this weakness to teach me something or keep me humble."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this is my 'thorn in the flesh' like Paul had. Maybe God is using this struggle to keep me dependent on Him. Maybe I'm supposed to just accept it and learn the lesson He's teaching through it.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious misinterpretation of Paul's thorn making God the author of bondage instead of Deliverer.
Well-meaning Christians quote 'God's strength in weakness' and 'thorn in the flesh' to explain why you're still struggling, making it sound spiritual to stay bound.
Disciples asked Jesus, 'Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'—assuming God gave blindness as punishment or lesson. Jesus corrected them: 'NEITHER—but that the works of God should be revealed in him,' then IMMEDIATELY healed him—God's work is HEALING, not perpetuating bondage.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me this struggle as a teaching tool. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT LIFE. My struggle comes from the enemy's attack, not the Father's curriculum. God doesn't keep me bound to keep me humble—He sets me FREE to reveal His glory. IT IS WRITTEN in Luke 13:16 that Jesus called the bound woman 'a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound'—He identified Satan as the SOURCE and LOOSED her immediately. I am a son of Abraham through Christ, BARAK-blessed with covenant freedom. The Father didn't give me weakness—He gave me His SPIRIT OF POWER. I walk in divine health and wholeness because that's my covenant right. God's lesson isn't 'stay bound'—it's 'BE FREE and show the world My goodness.'
The Father isn't keeping you bound to teach you dependency—He's offering you FREEDOM to teach the world His goodness. He didn't give you a thorn; He gave you a DELIVERER. And Jesus is standing in front of your bondage right now saying 'Neither this boy nor his parents sinned—this is here so I can show MY POWER.'
