"God expected me to be farther along spiritually by now and I've wasted too much time."
How it sounds in your head: I've been a Christian for years but still struggle with basic things. God gave me time and opportunities, and I squandered them. I should be leading, but I'm still barely following.
"Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."
-- Philippians 1:6Source: Religious milestones and growth charts that create artificial timelines for spiritual maturity, making grace into a curriculum with deadlines.
Seeing younger believers mature faster or peers in leadership creates the false metric that God has a timeline for your progress. The enemy weaponizes legitimate conviction into condemnation about pace.
Man was sick for THIRTY-EIGHT YEARS—decades of waiting, no progress, no hope, everyone else getting healed but not him. Jesus showed up and healed him IMMEDIATELY with one command—no lectures about wasted time, just instant breakthrough.
I REFUSE the lie that I've wasted time or fallen behind God's schedule. IT IS WRITTEN that He who began a good work in me will COMPLETE it—not 'might complete if I hurry up,' but WILL complete. God isn't standing over me with a disappointed timer; He's the vine producing fruit through me as I simply stay connected. IT IS WRITTEN in John 15:5 that apart from Him I can do NOTHING, but in Him fruit is automatic. I am not behind; I am exactly where grace has me, and God is not frustrated with my pace because His timeline is completion, not comparison.
Your Father isn't checking His watch wondering when you'll get it together—He's the gardener patiently tending the growth He started, and every moment you've 'wasted' is covered by the blood that makes you righteous RIGHT NOW, not eventually.
