"God allows my chronic pain to keep me dependent on Him instead of self-reliant."
How it sounds in your head: You've always been independent, capable, strong. Chronic back pain or joint issues force you to ask for help, pray more, rely on others. Maybe God orchestrated this weakness to break your pride.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religion presents God as cosmic control freak who cripples people to force relationship, contradicting His nature as good Father.
You have grown in prayer life since pain started. It feels like there's spiritual fruit from the suffering, so maybe God intended it for that purpose.
Mephibosheth was crippled in both feet from age 5, lived in hiding, destitute. When David restored him to palace, he didn't say 'your lameness kept you humble' - he gave him FULL inheritance and permanent place at king's table despite disability, which shows disability wasn't God's tool for character.
I REFUSE the lie that God allows chronic pain to break my independence. IT IS WRITTEN: James 1:17 - EVERY GOOD GIFT comes from Father with NO VARIATION. He doesn't weaponize disease to control me. IT IS WRITTEN: Romans 2:4 - His KINDNESS leads to repentance, not His pain management. Jesus healed the invalid at Bethesda after 38 YEARS (John 5:8-9) with no speech about 'this kept you humble' - just 'RISE, take up your bed, WALK.' I am blessed with Abraham's barak (Galatians 3:14) - even when Jacob DECEIVED Isaac for blessing, Isaac trembled but said 'he SHALL BE BLESSED' (Genesis 27:33). Blessing doesn't come with crippling conditions. My back is HEALED, joints restored, pain GONE because Jesus was broken so I don't have to be. I depend on Father FROM wholeness, not THROUGH brokenness. I am WHOLE.
Father isn't crippling you to force closeness - David brought crippled Mephibosheth to the table and gave him full inheritance with no prerequisite of healing first. You're welcome at the feast, pain-free, right now.
