"God gave me this sickness to teach me patience and humility."
How it sounds in your head: I'm stuck in bed missing practice, watching everyone else get stronger while I get weaker. Maybe God wants me to learn something through this pain. Maybe I'm supposed to just accept being sick and not ask for healing because that's prideful.
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Source: Religious teaching that presents God as a disease distributor who uses sickness as a classroom.
When church people say 'God has a purpose in everything' and adults nod like sickness is normal, it sounds spiritual. When I pray and nothing changes, it seems like maybe God wants me sick for a reason.
Bent over for 18 YEARS, couldn't straighten up, religious leaders said wait till tomorrow. Jesus called her forward, laid hands on her, said 'Woman you are LOOSED,' and IMMEDIATELY she stood straight and glorified God—didn't wait for a process or a lesson to finish.
I REFUSE the lie that my Father uses disease as a teaching tool. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL oppressed by the devil because GOD WAS WITH HIM—sickness is oppression, not instruction. My Father didn't send Jesus to make people sicker and wiser; He sent Him to destroy the works of the devil, and sickness is the devil's work. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished at the cross, mine by the BARAK blessing that protects me because of COVENANT not because I learned enough lessons. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, and the blessing flows to me not because I'm patient enough but because Jesus BECAME the curse. Health is my covenant right, and I receive it NOW.
Your Father is running toward you with healing in His hands, not standing back with a lesson plan. While you're still in the sick bed, He's already robed you in Jesus' perfect health and thrown the party of resurrection life.
