"Giving when you're broke is foolish stewardship and irresponsible."
How it sounds in your head: I need to be wise with what little I have left. Giving when I can't pay my own bills isn't faith—it's stupidity. God gave me a brain; He expects me to use common sense and not give away what I need to survive.
"That in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded in the riches of their liberality."
-- 2 Corinthians 8:2World's wisdom directly contradicts kingdom economics, keeping believers locked in natural limitation.
Every financial advisor would call it reckless to give away money you need for rent, food, or medicine. Wisdom says secure yourself first, then give from surplus.
They were in DEEP poverty and great trial, yet BEGGED Paul for the privilege of giving—beyond their ability. Their supernatural generosity in lack became the model Paul used to teach ALL churches about grace giving.
I REFUSE the lie that poverty disqualifies generosity—IT IS WRITTEN that deep poverty abounded in riches of liberality. I don't give from what I HAVE; I give from who GOD IS. The BARAK blessing doesn't wait for abundance to begin—it CREATES abundance through obedience. Seed in the ground looks like loss; harvest proves it was MULTIPLICATION. IT IS WRITTEN in Luke 6:38 that the measure I give is the measure I receive—pressed down, shaken together, running over. I am a GIVER because my Father is a Giver, and His supply is LIMITLESS regardless of my bank account.
Your Father isn't asking you to give so HE can get something—He's inviting you to give so HE can SHOW you His supply is unlimited. Like the father who killed the fattened calf while the son still reeked of pigs, God releases provision BEFORE you feel secure.
