"Tithing is Old Testament law and Christians aren't under the law"
How it sounds in your head: I read Galatians and we're not under law but grace. Isn't tithing just another religious obligation? Why would God care about a percentage when Jesus fulfilled everything?
"Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives."
-- Hebrews 7:8Source: religious spirits twisting grace to mean no response, plus misunderstanding of what Christ fulfilled versus what He confirmed
She's heard sermons about not being under law and knows Galatians says Christ redeemed us from the curse. Tithing feels like Old Covenant performance she's been freed from.
Abraham gave a tenth of everything to Melchizedek the priest 430 years before Moses ever received the law—this was pure covenant relationship, not legal obligation. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.'
I REFUSE the lie that tithing is legalistic obligation. IT IS WRITTEN in Hebrews 7:8 that JESUS, who LIVES, receives my tithes as my eternal High Priest—this is New Covenant reality, not Old Testament slavery. Abraham tithed before the law existed because covenant partners honor each other. I am not under law but under GRACE, which doesn't produce less generosity but MORE, flowing from a grateful heart not a guilty one. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:29 that I am Abraham's seed and heir according to promise—the same BARAK blessing that followed his generosity follows mine. I give not because I'm commanded but because I'm connected to an inexhaustible Source.
Your Father doesn't want your tithe because He's broke or demanding—He wants to establish the very flow system that keeps heaven's resources flooding your life. Like the prodigal's father who had beenfattening a calf in anticipation, your Father has already prepared provision and is simply waiting for you to position yourself under the downpour.
