"God doesn't need my money—He owns everything already"
How it sounds in your head: It sounds so spiritual to say God doesn't need your widow's mite. He's GOD—He's not broke. Why would He care about your little bit? Surely your giving or not giving doesn't affect Him. Keep it for yourself; He'll understand.
"Then one poor widow came and threw in two mites, which make a quadrans. So He called His disciples to Himself and said to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all those who have given to the treasury; for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.'"
-- Mark 12:42-44Enemy twisting God's self-sufficiency into excuse for disobedience, disconnecting giving from relationship.
Psalm 50:10 literally says 'every beast of the forest is Mine, and the cattle on a thousand hills.' It feels humble and theologically sound to acknowledge God doesn't NEED anything from you.
She had two mites—literally the smallest, least valuable coins in circulation, worth almost nothing. She gave BOTH when she could have kept one, and Jesus said she gave MORE than all the wealthy donors combined because she gave from TRUST, not surplus—and that trust moved Heaven.
I REFUSE the lie that God doesn't care about my giving. IT IS WRITTEN that the widow's two mites moved Jesus more than the wealth of the rich. My giving isn't about His need—it's about my TRUST. I am a branch abiding in the Vine; my giving flows from CONNECTION, not obligation. IT IS WRITTEN that where my treasure is, there my heart is also. When I honor Him with my firstfruits, I'm saying 'You're my SOURCE, not my paycheck.' I carry the BARAK blessing of Abraham—wealth followed him even through lies and mistakes. I don't give to impress God; I give because I'm ALREADY blessed, ALREADY loved, ALREADY provided for. I am the HEAD and not the tail!
The Father doesn't need your money, beloved—He has everything. But He LOVES the trust that says, 'I'll give my little to You and watch You make it MUCH.' Like the widow's mites that caught Jesus' attention, your obedience in the small is a BIG DEAL to Him. He's not after your wallet; He's after the worry you're holding onto instead of Him.
