"Churches are just businesses selling a product, not true spiritual families."
How it sounds in your head: The branding, the coffee bar, the fog machines, the marketing campaigns—it feels like a corporation, not a family. Where's the intimacy? The authenticity? It's all production.
"For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:12-13Cynicism born from consumerism culture bleeding into church expression, confusing METHOD with MOTIVE.
The production IS slick. The budget IS corporate-level. The strategies ARE borrowed from business. At her age, she remembers simpler, smaller, seemingly more genuine gatherings.
Wealthy businesswoman, dealer of purple (luxury goods), commercial success. God opened her heart, she was baptized, and her HOME became the church base. Wealth and business didn't disqualify her—they were TOOLS for Kingdom family. Paul returned to her house for encouragement.
I REFUSE the lie that production equals fakeness or that corporate structure disqualifies spiritual family. IT IS WRITTEN that by one Spirit we are all baptized into one body—not by budget size or building style. My family is defined by the SPIRIT, not the strategy. IT IS WRITTEN that where two or three gather in His name, He is present—simplicity or sophistication doesn't determine His presence. The BARAK blessing flowed even in Egypt's wealth and Lydia's commerce—provision doesn't equal corruption. I declare I will see with SPIRIT eyes, not cynical lenses. The BRIDE is still His beloved, still being prepared, still FAMILY—fog machine or campfire, we are ONE BODY.
Your Father isn't offended by coffee bars or marketing—He's offended by empty hearts. While you critique the METHOD, He's inviting you to see the PEOPLE—broken, searching, hungry—just like you, desperate for FAMILY.
