"Church people abandoned me when I needed them most—why go back?"
How it sounds in your head: When my marriage fell apart, the calls stopped. When I lost my job, the invites dried up. When my kid was in crisis, suddenly everyone was too busy. They were there for celebrations but disappeared during the breakdown. I sat alone in the hospital. I faced foreclosure without a single meal delivered. They're fair-weather friends.
"When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take care of me."
-- Psalm 27:10Source: Legitimate abandonment by imperfect people, now enemy says all community will repeat the pattern.
People literally didn't show up when you were drowning. The silence during your darkest season was deafening. Your pain is validated—they failed you.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding in fear in Lo Debar (place of no pasture), convinced he was forgotten after his family was killed. King David SEARCHED for him to restore everything—gave him land, wealth, and a permanent seat at the king's table. One man's faithfulness restored what many had ignored.
I REFUSE the lie that one group's failure defines all of God's people. IT IS WRITTEN that when father and mother forsake me, the Lord takes care of me. People failed, but God NEVER left. IT IS WRITTEN He will never leave me nor forsake me. I am Mephibosheth—feeling forgotten in Lo Debar—but King Jesus is SEARCHING for me to restore me to the table. The BARAK blessing is bringing me to covenant relationships that won't break when life gets hard. I'm Abraham's seed. Like Joseph's brothers who abandoned him, God is turning betrayal into breakthrough. My next community is not my last community. I'm coming out of hiding.
The Father is weeping over your abandonment and preparing a table where you'll NEVER be alone again. He's raising up a Ruth, a Jonathan, a David who will search for you. Their failure wasn't His heart. Your seat at the King's table is prepared.
