"Church leaders covered up abuse and protected abusers instead of victims."

How it sounds in your head: I watched them silence the girl who spoke up. I saw them move the youth pastor instead of firing him. They care more about reputation than protection. How can I trust an institution that values image over innocence?

Luke 17:1-2

"Then He said to the disciples, 'It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.'"

-- Luke 17:1-2
Enemy whispers: 'Church protects abusers; it's all corrupt.' BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Luke 17:1-2 - 'WOE to him through whom offenses come! It would be BETTER for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than that he should offend one of these little ones.' Your RAGE is RIGHTEOUS—Jesus shares it. Those leaders will answer to God, and His judgment will be SEVERE. But don't let THEIR evil rob you of HIS good. IT IS WRITTEN that vengeance belongs to the Lord. Report, expose, protect—but don't let their darkness extinguish your light. There ARE churches led by people who would die before harming the vulnerable.
Quick Truth: LIE: Church protects abusers. TRUTH: Jesus promises severe judgment on those who harm the vulnerable. Luke 17:1-2

Source: Witnessing or experiencing actual abuse cover-up by church leadership, creating righteous anger mixed with loss of trust in all spiritual authority.

Why this feels true:

The abuse and cover-up were REAL, the injustice was REAL, and the institutional protection of abusers over victims was a legitimate betrayal of everything church claims to stand for. His anger is righteous.

2 Samuel 12:1-14
Nathan confronting David

When King David abused power, committed adultery with Bathsheba, and murdered her husband, the prophet Nathan CONFRONTED him publicly without fear. God didn't cover it up or protect David's reputation—He exposed the sin and executed justice while still redeeming David.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that all church leadership is corrupt. IT IS WRITTEN that WOE comes to those who harm the vulnerable—God's judgment on abusers will be severe and certain. I will not be silent about evil, but I will not let evil people steal good community from me. There ARE leaders who reflect Jesus, who protect the vulnerable, who value truth over reputation. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord sees all and will repay. I stand under the BARAK blessing where God PROTECTS the vulnerable and JUDGES the wicked. I am not naive, but I am not cynical. I am DISCERNING.

But God actually:

The Father is saying, 'I saw what they did. I saw them choose reputation over the wounded. My FURY burns against them—millstones and sea, remember? But don't paint all shepherds with the same brush. I HAVE faithful ones who would lay down their lives for the sheep. Let me lead you to THEM. Justice is coming; trust ME with it.'
