"At my age, it's too late to build anything significant before Christ returns."
How it sounds in your head: Even if the world doesn't end tomorrow, I'm in my seventies. What can I possibly accomplish now? The young will build the kingdom. My season is over.
"The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."
-- Psalm 92:12-14Religious ageism disguised as humility, enemy assassinating destiny with a calendar.
Energy is lower, health is fragile, friends are dying. It seems logical that significance belongs to the young and strong, not the retired and declining.
At 85 years old, while others were settling into retirement, Caleb demanded the HARDEST territory—the mountain with giants. He said 'I am as strong this day as I was forty years ago.' God gave him INSTANT victory and the mountain became his inheritance.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm too old to build anything significant. IT IS WRITTEN: The righteous bear fruit in old age, fresh and flourishing. I am under the BARAK—blessed in the city and field, above only and not beneath. IT IS WRITTEN: My latter glory EXCEEDS my former. Moses was 80 at his START. Caleb took mountains at 85. Anna prophesied at 84. I am NOT fading—I am FLOURISHING. The best wine comes LAST, and my greatest fruit is NOW. I am a finisher, not a fader.
The Father isn't putting you on a shelf—He's handing you the mightiest assignments, because seasoned warriors handle the hardest battles. He's running toward you saying 'The young have zeal, but YOU have My wisdom. Let's take MOUNTAINS together.'
