"Wars and disasters prove God is angry and judging the earth now"
How it sounds in your head: Every earthquake, hurricane, or war feels like God's wrath. My church says these are birth pains of judgment. It feels like God is mad at the world and we're just caught in the crossfire.
"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."
-- John 3:17Source: Old Covenant judgment lens applied post-cross, making God the author of disaster instead of the Redeemer in it
Natural disasters get preached as divine punishment, and it matches Old Testament patterns she's heard taught. It's hard to separate God's character from catastrophic events.
When disaster hit Job, everyone blamed God, but the text reveals it was SATAN who killed his kids and destroyed his wealth, not God. God's response was to DOUBLE everything Job lost—not punish him, but RESTORE him beyond the devastation.
I REFUSE the lie that disasters prove God is angry and judging. IT IS WRITTEN that God sent Jesus not to CONDEMN but to SAVE, and Jesus is the exact image of the Father. Every storm Jesus encountered, He CALMED. IT IS WRITTEN that every good gift comes from the Father, in whom is NO shadow of turning—He doesn't send blessing one day and hurricanes the next. He is GOOD, His mercy endures FOREVER, and He is my refuge in the storm, not the sender of it. The BARAK blessing includes PROTECTION in the city and in the field.
Your Father isn't throwing hurricanes at the earth—He's the One running toward the wreckage with RESTORATION in His hands. Jesus wept at Lazarus's tomb even though He was about to raise him; He's moved by your pain, not causing it.
