"At my age, I should be giving everything away, not enjoying abundance"
How it sounds in your head: This is the season to bless the next generation, fund missionaries, downsize drastically. Every financial advisor and pastor says to simplify. Keeping abundance for yourself at this stage is hoarding. You should be a channel, not a reservoir. Legacy means emptying yourself.
"Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the LORD had blessed Abraham in all things."
-- Genesis 24:1Religious teaching that confuses generosity with self-depletion and godliness with financial martyrdom
Every estate planning seminar emphasizes giving it all away. Friends are liquidating assets and living minimally, and they seem spiritually mature. Enjoying provision feels like failing to launch your legacy.
At 80 years old, Barzillai was so wealthy he personally funded King David's entire household during exile—and STILL had so much abundance that David wanted to reward him further. Prosperity at advanced age positioned him for KINGDOM impact.
I REFUSE the lie that my season is for depletion. IT IS WRITTEN that Abraham was blessed in ALL things in old age. The righteous flourish and bear fruit even in senior years. IT IS WRITTEN in Proverbs 10:22 that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. I can be generous AND flourishing simultaneously. My Father isn't asking me to empty myself—He's asking me to overflow. I receive abundant provision at every age, knowing blessing increases, not decreases.
Your Father didn't design your golden years as a draining season where you shrink into invisibility. He's the God who blessed Abraham in ALL things when he was 'old and well advanced'—He saves GOOD WINE for the end of the feast, and you're in prime time for extravagant blessing.
