"After infidelity, trust can never be rebuilt at our age."
How it sounds in your head: She betrayed everything. Or I did. The trust is shattered into a million pieces. Young couples have time to rebuild—we don't. We're too old to do years of counseling and recovery.
"Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
-- Isaiah 43:18-19Enemy lie that betrayal creates permanent damage, that age limits restoration capacity.
The wound feels mortal—the kind that ends things. He can't imagine looking at her the same way again, and at 85, doesn't have decades to heal.
Caught in the actual act of adultery, dragged before accusers, about to be stoned—deserved death by law. Jesus wrote in the sand and everyone left—instant forgiveness, zero probation, told to sin no more and go in peace.
I REFUSE the lie that betrayal creates permanent trust death or that age limits restoration. IT IS WRITTEN: God does a NEW THING and it springs forth NOW—roads in wilderness, rivers in desert, instant miracles. The woman caught in adultery received IMMEDIATE full forgiveness with no probation period. IT IS WRITTEN that love covers a multitude of sins, that God is making all things new. I stand in the BARAK blessing that covered Judah sleeping with his daughter-in-law, Abraham's lies, Jacob's deceptions—yet covenant remained. Betrayal doesn't break God's restoring power. He creates new NOW.
The Father isn't requiring years of earned-back trust—He's creating a NEW THING right now. What would take humans decades, He does in a moment because He's the God of instant miracles.
