"Adoption is 'God's Plan B' because we failed to have biological children."
How it sounds in your head: People keep suggesting adoption like it's the spiritual solution to your infertility. 'Maybe God wants you to adopt—maybe that's His plan for you.' It feels like everyone's giving you the consolation prize speech, and you're supposed to smile and accept that biological children were someone else's blessing, not yours.
"For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, 'Abba, Father.'"
-- Romans 8:15Religion creates hierarchy of blessing, making adoption a 'backup plan' rather than an equally valid expression of fatherhood, which both dishonors adoption AND agrees infertility is final.
Well-meaning people present adoption as the 'next step' after infertility, which subtly communicates you've failed at Plan A. You love the idea of adoption but resent it being offered as the 'instead of' rather than an 'in addition to' or a standalone calling.
Pharaoh's daughter adopted Moses, making him her son despite no biological connection. That adoption positioned him in the palace, gave him education and access, and set up the entire Exodus. Adoption wasn't Plan B—it was divine positioning for destiny.
I REFUSE the lie that adoption is consolation for failure. IT IS WRITTEN: I was adopted by the Father through the Spirit—adoption is a KINGDOM principle, not a backup plan. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 1:5 that He 'predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ'—that's PREDESTINED, not accidental. I can receive adoption as a calling AND still believe for biological children—the blessing is BOTH/AND, not either/or. The BARAK blessing doesn't limit me to one expression of fatherhood. I walk in the fullness of whatever the Father has for me—biological, adopted, or both—because I'm blessed 'above all peoples.'
The Father isn't saying 'settle for adoption because biology failed.' He's saying 'I can give you both if that's My plan, or adoption alone as a primary calling, or biological alone—but NONE of it is Plan B because I don't have backup plans. I have ONE PLAN: bless you as a father because that's who I made you to be.' He's running toward you with the fullness of fatherhood, however that manifests.
