Too Late
"You're a burden now. Your children resent caring for you. You should have stayed independent longer."

How it sounds in your head: I see it in their eyes when they have to help me. I'm the mother who was strong, and now I need them for everything. They have their own lives and I'm the obligation they didn't want.

Isaiah 46:4

"Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."

-- Isaiah 46:4
Enemy whispers: You're a burden. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Isaiah 46:4 - 'Even to gray hairs I will CARRY you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry and will deliver you.' YOU are not the burden - you're the CARRIED. The Father doesn't resent your need - He DESIGNED it to reveal His strength. Moses needed Aaron and Hur to hold up his arms. Paul needed Timothy. Ruth needed Naomi. Interdependence is DESIGN, not failure. Honor your father and mother that your days may be long - blessing flows TO those who honor you, not FROM you earning it.
Quick Truth: LIE: You're a burden now. TRUTH: Even to gray hairs I will CARRY you. Isaiah 46:4. Mephibosheth crippled but at king's table continually.

World's independence worship + culture that warehouses elderly instead of honoring them - makes needing help shameful instead of the design of generations.

Why this feels true:

She literally needs help she once gave. Adult children ARE busy and sometimes frustrated. Culture screams that needing care means you failed at aging successfully.

2 Samuel 9:6-13
Mephibosheth

Crippled in both feet, couldn't walk, needed carried everywhere. King David sought him out, restored all Saul's land to him, gave him a place at the king's table CONTINUALLY 'and he was lame in both his feet' - his inability didn't disqualify him from the king's table.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my need makes me a burden. IT IS WRITTEN that even to gray hairs God will CARRY me - I'm not the carrier anymore, I'm the CARRIED. My weakness is the stage for His strength made perfect. IT IS WRITTEN to honor father and mother that days may be long - blessing flows TO those who care for me by divine design. I am not an obligation - I am the elder whose gray hair is a crown of glory. The Father doesn't resent my frailty - He's running toward me to carry me like Mephibosheth, crippled but seated at the king's table CONTINUALLY.

But God actually:

The Father doesn't see a burden - He sees the carried one He delights to bear. Like David seeking out crippled Mephibosheth for the king's table, He's running toward your weakness with a permanent seat of honor.
