"You should have prayed more when you were younger—now it's too late to expect God to heal decades of damage."
How it sounds in your head: If you'd been more faithful in your 30s, more diligent in your 40s, maybe your body wouldn't be breaking down now. You can't expect God to reverse decades of neglect and poor choices. You missed your window.
"Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."
-- Psalm 103:5Religion: Performance-based theology that makes healing conditional on past faithfulness, turning God's nature into a rewards program with expiration dates.
Your body DOES show decades of wear. You DID neglect health for years. You can see the cause-and-effect, and it feels dishonest to ask God to override natural consequences now.
The prodigal wasted YEARS in sin, destroyed his inheritance, ruined his health feeding pigs. He had DECADES of bad choices and consequences. The Father didn't say 'too late' or 'you should have come sooner.' He RAN while the son was still FAR OFF, restored him INSTANTLY—ring, robe, sandals, party—full sonship in MINUTES, not years of proving himself.
I REFUSE the lie that it's too late for healing because of my past. IT IS WRITTEN: my youth is RENEWED like the eagle's—not maintained, RENEWED. God isn't limited by my timeline or my failures. I am a branch attached to the Vine—yesterday's disconnection doesn't stop today's LIFE FLOW. IT IS WRITTEN: if anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW creation—ALL things become new, including the body I neglected. Like the prodigal who wasted YEARS, I receive INSTANT restoration because my Father RUNS toward me, not away. The BARAK blessing covered Abraham even when he LIED repeatedly—it's based on COVENANT, not my track record. I am Abraham's seed through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN: those who wait on the LORD shall RENEW their strength. Renewal is present tense, available NOW. My Father celebrates my healing today, not my failures yesterday.
The Father isn't waiting for you to explain your wasted years before He heals you. He's RUNNING toward you while you're still rehearsing your 'make me a servant' speech, already holding out the robe and ring and sandals. He's the Father who renewed the prodigal in MINUTES, not years, and He's celebrating your youth being RENEWED like the eagle's, your strength RESTORED, your body RENEWED—TODAY, not someday after you've earned it.
