"You can't even remember names or stories anymore. Your mind is gone. You're already gone."
How it sounds in your head: You forget your grandkids' names. You repeat the same story three times in an hour. Your mind—who you ARE—is disappearing. If your mind is gone, are you even still you? What's left?
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day."
-- 2 Corinthians 4:16Enemy lie that identity is located in cognitive function rather than spirit sealed by Holy Spirit.
Memory loss is terrifying. Forgetting faces, names, events feels like losing yourself piece by piece. If you can't remember, are you still YOU?
This man was dying, possibly delirious from pain and blood loss, but he recognized Jesus and said 'Remember me.' Jesus INSTANTLY promised him Paradise—TODAY. No cognitive test required. No memory evaluation. Just 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Identity secure regardless of mental state.
I REFUSE the lie that my identity is in my cognitive function or memory. IT IS WRITTEN that though my outward man perishes, my INWARD man is being renewed day by day. My spirit is SEALED by the Holy Spirit, and that seal is ETERNAL. I am not my memory—I am a SPIRIT being, made in God's image, redeemed by Jesus' blood. IT IS WRITTEN that nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. My TRUE identity is hidden with Christ in God, and THAT cannot fade, fail, or be forgotten.
The Father knows your name even when you forget your own. Like the Good Shepherd who calls His sheep by name, He is speaking YOUR name over you right now—your ETERNAL name, written in the Lamb's Book of Life, and that name is PERMANENT regardless of what your brain can or cannot recall.
