"When people compliment me, they're just being nice. They don't really mean it or they'd see how ordinary I am."
How it sounds in your head: Adults say 'good job' to everyone. That compliment wasn't specific to you—they say that to all the kids. If they really looked closely at your work, they'd see it's nothing special. You're getting generic praise, not genuine recognition.
"You are all fair, my love, and there is no spot in you."
-- Song of Solomon 4:7Enemy's whisper that deflects love and praise, rooted in unworthiness and inability to receive freely given gifts.
He's trained himself to reject compliments as 'too good to be true' and believes genuine praise must be earned through exceptional performance. He can't reconcile ordinary effort with authentic celebration.
Jesus saw Nathanael and said, 'Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!' Nathanael was shocked Jesus could see him with such specific praise. Jesus responded by promising he'd see even GREATER things—Heaven opened because Jesus GENUINELY saw him.
I REFUSE the lie that compliments are just people being nice or generic praise. IT IS WRITTEN in Song of Solomon 4:7 that I am 'all fair' with 'no spot'—that's how Heaven sees me, specifically and genuinely. I am not defined by feeling too ordinary to deserve real recognition. IT IS WRITTEN that God rejoices over me with SINGING—not generic, but specific celebration. I stand in the BARAK blessing of Abraham. I am blessed coming in and going out. Favor surrounds me like a shield. When people praise me, I RECEIVE it as an echo of Heaven's delight.
Your Father isn't giving you generic participation-trophy praise. He's looking at you like Jesus looked at Nathanael—seeing you SPECIFICALLY, celebrating you GENUINELY, and promising you'll see even greater things because you're truly SEEN.
