"Everyone else has credentials and experience I don't have. I'm just pretending to be their peer."
How it sounds in your head: They have the degree from the prestigious school, the internship that actually mattered, the network from families who knew people. You have community college credits and a job you got because someone took a chance. When they talk about their undergrad professors or study abroad, you smile and nod, but inside you're calculating how many years behind you are. You're sitting at a table you didn't earn a seat at.
"But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence."
-- 1 Corinthians 1:27-29World system lie that credentials determine calling, mixing with comparison culture that measures worth by résumé.
Their LinkedIn profiles read like novels while yours feels like a pamphlet, and every conversation about grad school or certifications reminds you of opportunities you couldn't afford or didn't even know existed. The achievement gap feels insurmountable, like you're playing a game where everyone else started with better cards.
Amos wasn't a prophet or a prophet's son—he was a shepherd and a fig farmer with zero credentials or training. When challenged, he said 'I'm just a farmer, but the LORD took me and said GO'—and his words became Scripture that outlasted every credentialed priest who opposed him, instant authority with zero résumé.
I REFUSE the lie that credentials determine my calling. IT IS WRITTEN that God CHOOSES the foolish, weak, and despised to shame the credentialed and mighty. My lack of pedigree is not disqualification—it's DIVINE STRATEGY so GOD gets the glory. I don't need the right last name or alma mater because IT IS WRITTEN that promotion comes from the Lord, not from résumés. The BARAK blessing that made Abraham prosper didn't require a degree—it required COVENANT, and I am in the BETTER covenant through Jesus' blood. I am the head and not the tail, seated at tables God prepared, and I OWN my seat.
The Father loves that you don't have the 'right' background because it means when you succeed, everyone will know it was HIM. He's not intimidated by your community college transcript—He's excited to display His power through someone the world overlooked.
