"My accomplishments are just smoke and mirrors. There's no real substance behind them."
How it sounds in your head: Sure, you've got the title, the income, the respect—but it's all surface. You networked well, interviewed well, played the game right. But if they actually evaluated your real contribution, your actual knowledge, you'd be exposed as average at best. You're a marketer who sold yourself better than your actual value.
"For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."
-- Colossians 2:9-10Performance-based identity and corporate culture that values perception over substance.
You've seen truly brilliant people get overlooked while you advanced, and you attribute your success to charm, timing, or politics rather than genuine competence. Deep down you fear you've conned your way to where you are.
Jephthah was the son of a prostitute, rejected by his family, and led a gang of 'worthless men.' When Israel faced destruction, they begged him to lead—and he INSTANTLY became commander and judge, delivering the nation despite his 'shameful' background.
I REFUSE the lie that my success is smoke and mirrors. IT IS WRITTEN that I am COMPLETE in Christ, who is the head of all principality and power. My substance is not my résumé—it's HIS LIFE in me. The BARAK blessing made Abraham wealthy even after he LIED, and Isaac LIED and still became so blessed the king asked him to leave. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, and the Lord commands blessing on everything I set my hand to. I am not a con artist; I am a carrier of God's presence, and THAT is my substance.
The Father doesn't see a fraud with good marketing—He sees a son filled with His fullness. Like Jephthah the gang leader became a deliverer, your past or your path doesn't diminish the reality that God's substance IN you is what matters.
