"Wanting a nice car or expensive things proves I care more about status than God."
How it sounds in your head: Every time I look at nice cars or clothes, I feel like I'm being shallow. Like real Christians shouldn't care about that stuff. Feels like wanting quality means my priorities are messed up.
"The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, says the LORD of hosts."
-- Haggai 2:8Source: Religion creating false dichotomy between nice things and spiritual maturity.
He's heard materialism sermons and 'Jesus didn't own much' guilt trips. Enjoying quality feels like caring about wrong things, making desire for nice stuff seem carnal.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding, expecting death. David found him and said, 'You shall eat bread at my table CONTINUALLY.' Not servant's quarters—KING'S table, KING'S food, KING'S provision, all based on covenant with his father Jonathan.
I REFUSE the lie that wanting quality is shallow. IT IS WRITTEN that ALL silver and gold belong to my Father. I sit at the King's table, not the servant's quarters, because I'm a SON. The BARAK blessing makes me the head, above only, blessed in ALL my possessions. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from above. I enjoy excellence without guilt because the Father RUNS toward me with the robe, ring, and BEST the house has to offer.
Your Father doesn't offer you bargain-bin scraps—He kills the FATTENED calf, brings the BEST robe, puts a RING on your finger. He's not stingy or disappointed in you for wanting quality. He's RUNNING toward you with MORE than you imagined.
