"This sickness is God's will to teach me patience, humility, or dependence on Him."
How it sounds in your head: When prayers don't bring immediate healing, you wonder if God is using the disease for character development. Maybe He's keeping you humble, breaking pride, teaching reliance. Suffering as curriculum feels spiritual, even noble.
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Source: Religious teaching that makes God the author of sickness and suffering, contradicting Jesus who healed ALL who came to Him.
The illness has forced you to slow down, pray more, rely on others—outcomes that feel spiritually valuable. If it's producing 'good fruit,' maybe God orchestrated it.
Religious leaders said her 18-year infirmity was God's will or discipline. Jesus called her sickness what it WAS—'Satan has bound her'—and IMMEDIATELY loosed her, calling her healing a MUST on the Sabbath.
I REFUSE the lie that God authored my sickness to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil—sickness is FROM the devil, not from God. God doesn't give disease as curriculum. IT IS WRITTEN that every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of lights, in whom is NO shadow of turning. Sickness is NOT a good gift. Jesus destroyed the works of the devil, including disease. I receive the lessons of intimacy and dependence WITHOUT agreeing to stay sick.
The Father isn't withholding healing until you 'learn your lesson'—He's already RAN toward you with wholeness while you were still in the pig pen of disease. He doesn't teach through torture; He restores through love, THEN transformation flows naturally from connection.
