"After managing this condition for decades, this IS my 'new normal'—I need to accept it."
How it sounds in your head: The doctors said it's progressive. You've tried everything. At your age, maybe this is just what the rest of your life looks like—managing symptoms, adjusting expectations, making peace with limitations. Everyone says acceptance is healthy. Fighting it seems exhausting and futile now.
"And do not be conformed to this world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
-- Romans 12:2Source: World's 'acceptance' philosophy + medical hopelessness + enemy stealing expectation for breakthrough.
You've lived with this for years or decades now. Your body has changed, and every specialist confirms there's no cure. At 60+, you've watched friends accept their conditions and stop hoping for change. Acceptance feels like wisdom, like maturity, like the 'healthy' response to aging.
38 YEARS an invalid—longer than many people's entire lives, long enough to forget what walking felt like, long enough that his condition WAS his identity. Jesus asked 'Do you WANT to be made well?' and IMMEDIATELY he was made well, picked up his bed after nearly four decades of lying on it.
I REFUSE the lie that this condition is my 'new normal' that I must accept. IT IS WRITTEN that I am NOT conformed to this world but TRANSFORMED by renewing my mind. My normal is NOT disease—my normal is the goodness of God, the health Christ purchased, the BARAK blessing that strengthened Abraham's body at 100 years old. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 103:3 that He heals ALL my diseases—not 'manages' them, not 'helps me accept' them, but HEALS them. Jesus is the SAME yesterday, today, forever—what He did for the invalid after 38 years, He does for me NOW. I expect TRANSFORMATION, not mere acceptance.
The Father sees you limping toward Him with your walker and decades of medical history, and He RUNS to you with the same power that raised His Son from the dead—not asking you to 'accept your limitations' but ready to demonstrate that HIS power is made perfect in weakness. He's already commanded the blessing on your body, regardless of how many years you've struggled.
