"The tribulation is coming, so why pursue comfort or prosperity now? Shouldn't I prepare to suffer?"
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I should be hardening myself and my kids for persecution, not pursuing blessing. Feels irresponsible to aim for abundance when we might need to survive off-grid soon. Should I be teaching them survival skills instead of success principles?
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over."
-- Psalm 23:5Source: Religion glorifying suffering as spiritual preparation, enemy pre-programming defeat by making believers embrace lack as training.
Persecution is rising—Christians losing jobs, canceled, censored. Underground church in China. Feels naive to pursue prosperity when the Bible says tribulation comes. As a father, maybe my job is preparing my kids to ENDURE, not PROSPER.
Israel lived under brutal oppression—slavery, genocide, crushing labor—yet the MORE they were oppressed, the MORE they MULTIPLIED and prospered (Exodus 1:12). Then in ONE NIGHT, they plundered Egypt—silver, gold, clothing—leaving with the wealth of their oppressors. Suffering didn't prepare them for lack—FAVOR positioned them for INSTANT WEALTH TRANSFER in their exodus.
I REFUSE the lie that I should embrace poverty to prepare for tribulation. IT IS WRITTEN that God prepares a table of abundance IN THE PRESENCE of my enemies. I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK—I multiply under pressure, prosper in famine, plunder when I leave. IT IS WRITTEN that my cup overflows even when surrounded. I don't train in lack for hardship—I walk in OVERFLOW now, trusting supernatural provision in ANY season. My kids learn FAVOR, not survival mode.
Your Father doesn't starve you now to prep you for famine later—He OVERFLOWS you now so you KNOW His provision is supernatural, not circumstantial. Like the father who threw a FEAST in the middle of economic uncertainty (killed the fattened calf during famine risk), God's abundance isn't conditional on easy times—it's His NATURE in all times.
