"I should pull back from the world and just focus on church community until He returns."
How it sounds in your head: The safest thing is to circle the wagons—homeschool, Christian bubble, only interact with believers. Why engage a dying world? Just keep my family pure and wait for rescue.
"You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden."
-- Matthew 5:13-14Source: Religion confused separation from sin with isolation from sinners, making retreat seem holy.
The world IS toxic in many ways. She wants to protect her kids, guard her heart, avoid compromise. Withdrawal feels like purity, like wisdom, like the only safe option.
While Jerusalem was in ruins and enemies surrounded them, Nehemiah didn't retreat—he rallied the remnant to REBUILD the wall in hostile territory. In 52 days, the 'impossible' wall stood, and enemies were silenced by the work of God through engaged believers.
I REFUSE the lie that holiness means hiding. IT IS WRITTEN that I am SALT and LIGHT—sent INTO the world to season and illuminate. Isolation isn't purity; it's burying my lamp. The BARAK blessing means I'm blessed in the CITY—not isolated FROM the city but thriving IN it. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm in the world but not of it, that greater is He in me than he in the world. I don't retreat; I REBUILD. I'm not contaminated by darkness; I OVERCOME it. I am a city on a hill that CANNOT be hidden, and I will not hide.
Your Father didn't save you to hide in a holy huddle—He saved you to BE His embassy in enemy territory. He's not afraid of the world defiling you; He's confident His Spirit IN you will transform everyone you touch.
