"The prosperity gospel is fake so I shouldn't expect financial blessing."
How it sounds in your head: I've heard adults mock 'prosperity preachers' and say people who teach about money are scammers. It makes me feel like expecting God to provide anything beyond basics is falling for a lie and I'm dumb if I believe it.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: religion - Overreaction to extremes creates suspicion of ALL teaching on biblical prosperity, throwing out truth with abuse.
She's heard prosperity gospel called a scam and seen leaders misuse money, so all teaching about financial blessing feels tainted and dangerous to believe.
Job lost everything—wealth, children, health. When God restored him, He gave him DOUBLE what he had before—twice the livestock, more children, and he lived 140 more years wealthy and blessed. God's restoration was FINANCIAL and ABUNDANT.
I REFUSE the lie that expecting financial blessing makes me gullible or deceived. IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 1:2 that God wants me to PROSPER IN ALL THINGS—not just spiritually. Job lost everything and God restored DOUBLE—financial abundance is biblical. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:11 that the Lord grants ABUNDANT PROSPERITY, and Galatians 3:13-14 says Christ redeemed me from the curse so the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM could come on me. Some people abuse truth, but that doesn't erase God's Word. The BARAK blessing is MINE through Jesus. I will not reject biblical prosperity because of religious fear.
Your Father isn't offended when you expect provision—He's the one who WROTE about prosperity in His Word. Job didn't get spiritual platitudes; he got DOUBLE his wealth back. The prodigal didn't get a poverty lesson; he got a party, a robe, and a ring. God's not stingy; religion is.
