"Prosperity preaching is all fake. Real Christians should expect to be poor and humble."
How it sounds in your head: You've heard pastors mock 'prosperity gospel' and say Jesus was poor so we should be too. You feel guilty even wanting nice things or financial freedom. You think desiring wealth means you're not spiritual.
"For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich."
-- 2 Corinthians 8:9Source: Religion's false humility doctrine—twisting Jesus' poverty during earthly ministry into a lifestyle command, ignoring His actual wealth and the Abrahamic covenant.
You see televangelist scandals and hear leaders say 'money is the root of evil.' Wanting to be rich feels greedy and un-Christlike when everyone says Jesus was a poor carpenter.
Called out of Ur with nothing guaranteed, yet became 'very rich in livestock, silver, and gold.' His wealth was so massive it caused conflict with Lot—God's blessing made him one of the wealthiest men alive.
I REFUSE the lie that real Christians should be poor. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus became poor so that I might become RICH. I reject false humility that calls poverty 'godliness.' I am Abraham's seed by covenant, and the BARAK blessing is on my life—Abraham was VERY RICH and so is my inheritance. IT IS WRITTEN that God takes pleasure in the PROSPERITY of His servant. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and my Father gives me richly all things to enjoy. Provision flows through me because I'm connected to the Vine—I don't work for it, I receive it by grace.
Your Father isn't glorified by your poverty—He's glorified when His children walk in the abundance He died to give them. Jesus stripped Himself so you could be clothed in blessing, and your Father is running toward you with resources, not asking you to stay broke.
