"I should focus on storing up treasure in heaven, not asking for earthly provision now."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus said don't store up treasures on earth. I'm about to die—shouldn't I be thinking about eternity, not my bank account? Asking for money now feels like I'm missing the point of the final stretch.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Religious misuse of Matthew 6:19-20, creating false either/or between heavenly focus and earthly provision.
Proximity to death makes eternity feel urgent and material concerns shallow, and selective verse quoting has built this framework over decades. Culture celebrates deathbed detachment from worldly things.
God offered Solomon anything; he asked for wisdom (heavenly treasure). God's response: 'Because you didn't ask for wealth, I'm ALSO giving you riches and honor'—proof that seeking Kingdom first doesn't mean earthly provision withheld; it means BOTH multiplied.
I REFUSE the lie that focusing on heaven means neglecting earthly provision. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies ALL my need according to HIS riches in GLORY—glory realm FUNDS earth realm, no competition. Solomon sought wisdom and GOT wealth added; I seek Kingdom and receive BARAK provision because my Father doesn't create either/or scenarios. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm blessed in my basket and storehouse—God cares about my PHYSICAL supply as I approach eternity. I receive heavenly treasure AND earthly provision because covenant covers BOTH, and my latter days will overflow as testimony to His faithfulness in EVERY realm.
Your Father isn't asking you to choose between heaven and provision—He's the Father who gives the Prodigal BOTH the party now AND the inheritance restored. He's loading your final chapter with earthly blessing as a signpost to the heavenly abundance waiting, one testimony amplifying the other.
