"The ministry owns me because people's souls depend on my leadership and I can't let them down."
How it sounds in your head: If you take a sabbatical, people will backslide. If you cut back hours, marriages will fail. If you resign, the church will collapse. Their spiritual lives depend on YOUR presence. You're indispensable. You can't abandon them.
"I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase."
-- 1 Corinthians 3:6Religious teaching made you the savior instead of pointing people to THE Savior, creating codependency instead of discipleship.
You've watched people crisis-call you at 2 AM. You've seen them fall apart when you took vacation. You've received emails saying 'I don't know what I'd do without you.' The evidence suggests they need you more than you need rest.
In the middle of massive crowds needing healing and ministry, with people pressing in from every side, Jesus said to His disciples, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while,' and they departed by boat immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm indispensable to God's kingdom. IT IS WRITTEN that I plant and water, but GOD gives the increase—not me. Jesus Himself left crowds in need to rest, because He knew the Father would handle what He didn't. IT IS WRITTEN that unless the Lord builds the house, I labor in vain. I am not the Savior; I'm a branch pointing to the Vine. I declare the BARAK blessing over my rest—people will FLOURISH without me because the Holy Spirit is their Counselor, not me. My Father didn't give me a church to kill me; He gave me an assignment to ENJOY with Him.
The Father is saying, 'Step back and watch Me work without you—not because I don't value you, but because I want you to SEE that I'm God and you're not. Rest is worship. Trust is obedience.'
