"The gift of healing ceased when the Bible was completed."
How it sounds in your head: I've been taught that miraculous gifts like healing were just to authenticate Scripture until the canon closed. Now that we have the complete Bible, we don't need signs and wonders—we have the Word. Seeking healing gifts is charismatic excess.
"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
-- Mark 16:17-18Source: Cessationist theology from 1 Corinthians 13:10 misinterpretation about 'when the perfect comes.'
Her church teaches that 'the perfect' in 1 Corinthians 13 means the completed Bible, so gifts ceased around 90 AD. This explains why her denomination doesn't see healing and makes her feel superior to 'emotional' charismatics.
The centurion's servant was paralyzed and suffering terribly, near death. Jesus spoke the word, and 'his servant was healed THAT SAME HOUR'—instant, long-distance healing through a word of authority.
I REFUSE the lie that healing gifts ceased when the Bible was completed! IT IS WRITTEN that these signs follow them that BELIEVE—I'm a believer, so healing signs follow ME. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing that worked miracles for covenant-keepers works for ME under the better covenant. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I was healed—that promise didn't expire in 90 AD. I lay hands on the sick and they recover, I speak to disease and it flees, I exercise the authority Jesus gave to ALL believers. Healing gifts are mine NOW!
Your Father didn't lock up the healing gift when the last apostle died—He's running toward you with healing power in His hands. While you're still wrapped in cessationist theology, He's throwing the party of your breakthrough, robe of healing authority ready.
