"Doctors and medicine prove we don't need to believe in divine healing anymore."
How it sounds in your head: You think about antibiotics and surgery and feel like believing in divine healing is anti-science. Smart Christians trust medicine; only backwards people rely on faith healing. You don't want to be seen as rejecting proven medical science.
"Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits: who forgives all your iniquities, who heals all your diseases."
-- Psalm 103:2-3Source: False dichotomy between natural and supernatural that makes them competitors instead of God's dual provision
Medicine has observable, repeatable results while divine healing seems subjective and inconsistent. Trusting medicine feels responsible; expecting miracles feels like tempting God by refusing medical help.
Asa was diseased in his feet—severely, it says—and he sought ONLY physicians, not the Lord, and died. The warning isn't against using physicians but against REPLACING God with physicians, trusting medical science INSTEAD OF divine provision rather than alongside it.
I REFUSE the lie that medicine replaces divine healing. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord heals ALL my diseases—He's still Healer regardless of medical advancement. I thank God for doctors as His provision AND I believe Him for supernatural miracles. The BARAK blessing releases provision through EVERY avenue—natural and supernatural—just like God gave Abraham wealth through BOTH natural increase AND supernatural intervention. IT IS WRITTEN in Exodus 15:26 that He is the Lord my Healer—present tense, ongoing, using whatever means He chooses.
The Father is running toward you with EXTRAVAGANT provision—medicine AND miracles, doctors AND divine intervention—because He's not rationing His methods based on your theology. He's prepared the fattened calf of BOTH-and blessing, not either-or limitation.
