"The enemy knows my weaknesses too well—I can't have authority over something that has power over me."
How it sounds in your head: He knows exactly how to tempt me. He knows my insecurities, my triggers, my patterns. Every time I try to resist, I end up giving in eventually. How can I take authority over the enemy when he seems to control me through my weaknesses? I feel like his puppet, not his conqueror.
"No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
-- 1 Corinthians 10:13The enemy uses knowledge of weaknesses to create a false sense of his superiority and the believer's powerlessness.
She has a track record of giving in to the same temptations repeatedly. The enemy seems to know exactly which buttons to push. Her failures feel like proof that he has power over her.
Samson had a KNOWN weakness for women that the enemy exploited—he was captured, blinded, humiliated. In his WEAKEST moment—blind, bound, mocked—he prayed ONE prayer and God gave him strength to destroy MORE enemies in his death than in his entire life. Weakness didn't disqualify authority.
I REFUSE the lie that my weaknesses disqualify my authority. IT IS WRITTEN: 'God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape.' The enemy may know my weaknesses, but GREATER is He who is in me. IT IS WRITTEN: 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' My weaknesses are opportunities for HIS power to shine. Samson was blind and bound—in his WEAKEST moment, God gave him his GREATEST victory. I don't need to be strong—I need to be CONNECTED to the Strong One. My authority flows from CHRIST in me, not from my ability to resist. The enemy is defeated not by my strength but by the BLOOD, and nothing can diminish that power.
The Father doesn't see your weaknesses as disqualifiers—He sees them as places where His strength gets to show off. He's not frustrated by your struggles; He's ready to pour His power into every vulnerable place. Your weakness is the STAGE for His strength, not the end of your authority.
