"I don't feel powerful enough to command demons or take authority over attacks."
How it sounds in your head: You've tried to speak to the anxiety, the intrusive thoughts, the oppression, and your voice shakes. You don't feel the confidence you hear in other people's prayers. When you try to take authority, it feels like you're playing pretend, like a kid wearing their parent's clothes. You don't FEEL powerful, so how can you command anything?
"For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds."
-- 2 Corinthians 10:4Source: Enemy ties spiritual authority to emotional confidence and personal feelings rather than positional truth and Christ's finished work.
Authority feels like something that should come with an internal sense of power and confidence. You feel small, shaky, uncertain - the opposite of powerful. It seems dishonest or presumptuous to speak with authority you don't feel you possess.
Moses stood at the Red Sea with 600 chariots behind him and millions of panicked Israelites screaming at him. He didn't FEEL powerful - he was terrified. God said 'Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the people to go forward. Raise your staff.' Moses lifted a stick over the water while feeling completely overwhelmed, and God parted the sea. The miracle didn't wait for Moses to feel confident - it responded to obedience in the middle of fear.
I REFUSE the lie that I must feel powerful to exercise spiritual authority. IT IS WRITTEN that the weapons of my warfare are mighty in GOD, not mighty in my emotions. My feelings don't determine the effectiveness of Christ's name, His blood, or His finished work. I can speak with authority from a place of trembling because the power is in the weapons, not in my confidence. IT IS WRITTEN that God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Even when I feel weak, His strength is made perfect in my weakness. The blessing of Abraham is mine - the blessing that worked when Abraham was afraid and lied to kings, the blessing that flowed when Jacob trembled before meeting Esau. The BARAK doesn't require me to feel powerful. It flows because of covenant, and I am IN Christ regardless of my emotional state.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to feel brave before He backs your words with His power. He's not measuring your confidence level before He releases authority. The weapons He gave you work because they're HIS weapons, powered by HIS might. You can tremble and still triumph because the victory isn't about your feelings - it's about His faithfulness.
