"The church wastes money — I can steward it better by helping family directly."
How it sounds in your head: You've seen the waste — unnecessary building campaigns, overpaid staff, frivolous spending. Your grandson needs help with rent; your daughter's struggling. Why funnel money through bureaucracy when you can meet real needs directly? That's better stewardship.
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

You've watched churches mismanage funds while your family has genuine needs right in front of you. Direct help feels more tangible, accountable, and loving than writing checks to institutions that waste resources.
Cornelius gave alms generously and prayed constantly, and an angel told him 'Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.' His generosity opened the door for Peter's visit and the entire household receiving the Holy Spirit — first Gentile converts.
I REFUSE the lie that my stewardship is wiser than covenant obedience or that church imperfection cancels tithing promises. IT IS WRITTEN that givers receive good measure, pressed down, running over, and IT IS WRITTEN that my gifts are a memorial before God (Acts 10:4). I can help family AND honor covenant giving — it's not either/or. The BARAK blessing flows through God's prescribed channels, not my alternate routes. Helping relatives is love; tithing is covenant. Both have place. I won't let institutional flaws rob me of supernatural return. My obedience triggers heaven's economy.
Your Father sees your heart for your family AND He honors your obedience to covenant structure — He's not asking you to choose. He multiplies what you give to Him so you have MORE for family, not less, and when you honor His design, He opens resources you didn't know existed to meet every need in your circle.
