"The church took advantage of my gifts and left me burned out and empty."
How it sounds in your head: They saw you could sing, teach, organize, counsel—so they kept asking until you couldn't say no. You poured yourself out until there was nothing left, and when you finally collapsed, they just found someone else to exploit. You were a resource, not a person.
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."
-- Matthew 11:28-30Source: Systems that extract instead of steward, and the enemy's lie that your depletion is permanent.
You can't even read your Bible without resentment because it's tied to performance. Worship songs trigger burnout memories. You gave until you broke, and nobody noticed or cared.
Poured out her most valuable possession (a year's wages in perfume) in an act of extravagant worship, immediately criticized by disciples as 'wasteful,' shamed for her generosity. Jesus defended her INSTANTLY, rebuked the critics, declared her story would be told forever—her giving was honored, not exploited.
I REFUSE the lie that my depletion is permanent or that my gifts exist to be exploited. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus calls the weary and heavy laden to REST, not more labor. That system burned me out, but my Father is restoring me. IT IS WRITTEN that His yoke is EASY and His burden is LIGHT—if it's crushing me, it's not from Him. I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham, the blessing that SUPERNATURALLY restores what was depleted. My oil will flow again, my joy will return, and my gifts will flourish under the stewardship of a Father who treasures me.
Your Father is FURIOUS that systems wrung you dry and then discarded you—He's bringing you to a table where you're FED, not drained, where your gifts are stewarded, not extracted. He's already filling your empty places with rest, joy, and oil that doesn't run out, because you were never meant to serve from depletion.
