"The church sees me as damaged goods. I'll never lead or serve again."
How it sounds in your head: You used to serve, maybe even lead, but now you feel like you have to sit in the back and keep quiet. Every ministry opportunity feels off-limits because you imagine the whispers: 'He's divorced - he can't be trusted in leadership.' You're benched permanently for one failed marriage.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Source: Religion's disqualification system that erases the power of the cross with man-made holiness codes.
You've watched how churches treat divorced people differently, like spiritual lepers who need to 'restore' before they can contribute. The implicit message is clear: you're second-class now, and some doors are permanently closed.
Denied Jesus three times publicly, cursed and swore he never knew Him - total moral failure at the worst possible moment. Jesus didn't bench him or put him on a restoration plan; He immediately REINSTATED him with 'Feed my sheep' and made him the foundation of the church.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm damaged goods or permanently disqualified from serving God. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a new creation in Christ - old things have passed away, ALL things have become new. My calling is not based on my marital resume but on the GRACE and GIFTING of God which are irrevocable. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus - not partial condemnation, not leadership condemnation, NONE. The enemy wants me benched, but the Father is saying 'Feed my sheep' - full restoration, full authority, full deployment. I am QUALIFIED by the blood of Jesus, EMPOWERED by the Holy Spirit, and CALLED by the Father who doesn't change His mind based on my past. I AM a minister of the new covenant, not because I'm perfect, but because HE is faithful.
The Father is handing you the towel and basin, saying 'Feed my sheep,' not keeping you on the sidelines. Your gifting is intact, your calling is irrevocable, and He's ready to USE you right now - not after you prove yourself, NOW.
