"The best you can hope for now is damage control, not full restoration."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe he'll survive this phase and come back to church someday, but the damage is done—the innocence lost, the patterns formed, the years wasted. You've downgraded your prayers from 'full restoration' to 'please just keep him alive.'
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religious realism + enemy stealing hope by making you settle for survival instead of breakthrough.
The losses are REAL—the relationships broken, the reputation damaged, the time gone. Hoping for full restoration feels naïve when survival is in question.
Job lost EVERYTHING—wealth, children, health, reputation. His 'friends' told him to accept it as judgment. When God restored him, He didn't just bring him back to baseline—Job received DOUBLE everything he lost, lived 140 more years, saw four generations, and died 'old and full of days.' EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE.
I REFUSE the lie of 'damage control.' IT IS WRITTEN that God does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY ABOVE all I ask or think—not survival, RESTORATION PLUS. IT IS WRITTEN that He restores the YEARS the locust has eaten—not just stops the bleeding. Job got DOUBLE back. The prodigal got a PARTY, not probation. My son's comeback will be MORE powerful than if he'd never left. I reject 'realistic' faith and pick up RESURRECTION faith. The BARAK blessing doesn't do damage control—it does OVERFLOW. I expect FULL RESTORATION NOW.
The Father isn't planning damage control—He's planning a PARTY. When the prodigal came home, the Father didn't say 'Well, let's see what we can salvage'—He threw the biggest celebration the neighborhood had ever seen. Your son's comeback will EXCEED your wildest prayers.
