"Taking thyroid medication means I'm not trusting God to regulate my body naturally."
How it sounds in your head: God designed my body to function on its own. Needing artificial hormones feels like I'm short-circuiting His design. Maybe if I trusted Him more, my thyroid would just work like He originally created it to.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day."
-- 2 Corinthians 4:16Religious lie that mistakes stewarding a broken body for lack of faith in God's original design intent.
The creation narrative shows God making everything 'very good,' so needing pharmaceutical intervention feels like living below His design standard. Taking synthetic hormones seems to acknowledge permanent defeat rather than believing for restoration.
Paul left Trophimus sick at Miletus—a ministry companion who traveled with an apostle and still dealt with ongoing illness. Paul didn't rebuke Trophimus's faith or tell him his sickness was from unbelief. Sometimes faithful people manage health issues in a fallen world, and it's just reality, not spiritual commentary.
I REFUSE the lie that hormone replacement represents distrust in God's design. IT IS WRITTEN that our outward man perishes even while our inward man is renewed—I live in a fallen body awaiting glorification. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 Corinthians 15:53 that this corruptible must put on incorruption, but that's future, not present. Right now, I steward what I have with wisdom. The barak blessing that covered Abraham's aging body covers mine. I receive medical provision for my thyroid without guilt, trusting my Father's supply through multiple means. My faith isn't measured by gland function.
Your Father is running toward you celebrating your wisdom in providing your body what it needs to function, not waiting for you to white-knuckle through exhaustion to prove trust. He knows you live in a fallen body, and He's generously supplying what compensates for its weaknesses until the day He gives you a glorified one.
