"Rich people can't go to heaven or be close to God"
How it sounds in your head: I've heard it's easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter heaven. So if I want to really know God, I need to stay away from money. Maybe wealth actually blocks me from God.
"Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy."
-- 1 Timothy 6:17Source: Religion misinterpreting Jesus' statement about the rich young ruler who trusted wealth MORE than God, not wealth itself.
She's heard the camel/needle verse used to make rich people seem doomed. She sees wealthy people who don't know God and assumes the money is the problem, not their trust in it instead of Him.
Job was the richest man in the East, lost everything, and God restored DOUBLE—making him even wealthier than before. God called Job blameless and upright WHILE he was wealthy, proving riches don't disqualify intimacy with God.
I REFUSE the lie that wealth blocks me from God. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives us richly all things to ENJOY, commanding the rich to trust Him, not their riches. I can be wealthy and intimate with God because my trust is in HIM, not my bank account. IT IS WRITTEN in Proverbs 10:22 that the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow. The BARAK blessing includes wealth without guilt. I am Abraham's seed, and his wealth was a sign of God's favor, not a barrier to it. My provision proves God's goodness, not my distance from Him.
Your Father doesn't see your money as competition—He's the One giving it to you richly to enjoy. He's not threatened by your abundance; He's delighted when you trust Him as the Source and use it for His purposes.
