"Retirement is a fantasy—only rich people get to stop working."
How it sounds in your head: You watch wealthy kids' parents retire early while your parents work overtime into their 60s. Retirement feels like a luxury for trust fund kids, not regular people grinding paycheck to paycheck. You've accepted that working until you physically can't is just reality for your economic class.
"The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail."
-- Deuteronomy 28:12-13Class-based lie from world system denying covenant promises based on economic status.
Wealth statistics show massive retirement disparities between economic classes, with lower-income workers often unable to retire at all. The wealth gap makes rest seem reserved for the already-wealthy.
Mephibosheth was crippled, hiding in poverty in a wasteland, assuming royal provision was only for legitimate sons. King David restored him to eat at the king's table CONTINUALLY like one of the king's sons, giving him permanent provision and rest he thought was impossible for someone in his position.
I REFUSE the lie that retirement is only for rich people. IT IS WRITTEN that the LORD opens His good treasure to me and makes me the HEAD, not the tail. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, and the BARAK blessing is mine regardless of my current economic class. I will lend to many and borrow from none—that's surplus living, not poverty grinding. IT IS WRITTEN that God blesses all the work of my hand and commands blessing on my storehouses. My future includes REST because covenant promises don't recognize class distinctions. Like Mephibosheth who went from poverty and hiding to eating at the king's table continually, I am going from whatever economic class the world assigned me to royal provision and permanent rest.
The Father isn't reserving retirement for the wealthy elite while sentencing you to lifelong labor—He's opening His good treasure to make YOU the head regardless of your starting point. Like Mephibosheth who went from hiding in poverty to eating at the king's table daily, your economic class doesn't limit God's plan to give you rest and abundance.
