"Real servants don't get tired or want breaks - something's wrong with my faith."
How it sounds in your head: Look at her - she runs three ministries and still has time for quiet time. Look at him - preaching every weekend with a smile. You're barely keeping up with one thing and you're exhausted. Maybe you're just not cut out for this. Maybe your faith is weaker than you thought.
"And He said to them, 'Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while.' For there were many coming and going, and they did not even have time to eat."
-- Mark 6:31Source: Religion's superhuman servant mythology - denying basic humanity as spiritual failure.
She sees others who seem tireless and compares her exhaustion to their highlight reel. Needing rest feels like spiritual immaturity.
Crowds were gathering, the ministry was exploding, everyone wanted healing and teaching. Jesus's response: He withdrew to desolate places and prayed. He didn't meet every need or heal every person in every moment - He rested, and the Kingdom didn't collapse.
I REFUSE the lie that needing rest means weak faith. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself withdrew to rest and pray - if the Son of God honored the limits of human flesh, I can too without shame. I am NOT superhuman, and God doesn't require me to be. My exhaustion isn't spiritual failure; it's my body telling the truth. The BARAK blessing doesn't mean I never get tired - it means I'm covered, provided for, and free to rest without losing favor. IT IS WRITTEN He gives His beloved sleep - rest is a GIFT, not laziness. I honor the body He gave me and trust that stepping back isn't stepping down from faith.
The Father doesn't look at your tiredness with contempt. He's the Shepherd who makes you lie down in green pastures, who leads you beside still waters, who restores your soul - not after you've proven your endurance, but because He loves you and knows you need it.
