"Real leaders don't get tired - I must not be cut out for this."
How it sounds in your head: The pastor seems like he never runs out of energy. My youth leader is always 'on.' If I'm already exhausted at 11, I'm probably not really called to leadership. Maybe I'm just weak and this isn't for me.
"Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
-- Isaiah 40:30-31Religion spirit - superhuman leadership standard that denies the humanity of spiritual leaders.
He only sees leaders in public settings where they appear strong and energized, never the private exhaustion. The comparison makes his tiredness feel like disqualification rather than normal human limitation.
David, the giant-slayer and king, came to Ziklag exhausted and found it burned, his family taken. His men spoke of stoning him, and he was so depleted he wept until he had no strength left - yet he 'strengthened himself in the LORD' and instantly led a victorious rescue.
I REFUSE the lie that tiredness disqualifies me from leadership. IT IS WRITTEN that even YOUTHS grow weary - exhaustion is HUMAN, not failure. David wept until he had no strength left, then strengthened himself in the Lord and led a rescue. My weariness doesn't mean I'm not called - it means I need RENEWAL. IT IS WRITTEN that those who wait on the Lord mount up with wings like eagles. I don't need superhuman strength - I need to WAIT on God and let His strength fill me. The BARAK blessing doesn't require me to be tireless; it covers me IN my humanity.
The Father doesn't expect you to be superhuman - He became HUMAN in Jesus, who got tired, hungry, and needed rest. Like the prodigal who came home weak and broken, your exhaustion doesn't disqualify you; it's the exact place the Father meets you with RENEWAL.
