"Real faith accepts suffering. Seeking healing shows lack of spiritual maturity."
How it sounds in your head: Paul had his thorn. Job suffered. Jesus said we'd have trouble in this world. Maybe seeking healing is actually resisting God's refining process. Mature faith accepts whatever God sends, including sickness. Maybe my pain has a purpose I shouldn't interfere with.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religious teaching equates suffering acceptance with spiritual maturity, making pursuit of healing evidence of carnal desire or weak faith.
Decades of Christian teaching about suffering's sanctifying purpose makes accepting pain feel more godly than fighting it. Unanswered prayers for healing seem to confirm God values character development over comfort.
Asa had severe foot disease and the Scripture REBUKES him: 'In his disease he did not seek the Lord, but the physicians.' God was offended that Asa relied only on doctors and didn't seek divine healing. Acceptance of disease without seeking God was criticized, not commended—opposite of religious teaching about mature acceptance.
I REFUSE the lie that seeking healing shows immaturity. IT IS WRITTEN: 3 John 1:2 - The mature apostle prayed for HEALTH as God's will, parallel to soul prosperity. Jesus healed ALL who came to Him—never once saying 'your suffering is better for you.' IT IS WRITTEN: By His stripes I was healed. Past tense. Finished. I'm not manufacturing healing through faith; I'm receiving what was already purchased. The BARAK blessing includes divine health. I don't accept disease as God's will when Scripture calls it a curse Jesus redeemed me from.
The Father isn't asking you to accept sickness nobly—He's asking you to receive the healing His Son already purchased. While religion calls your pain 'purposeful,' He's the Father who ran toward the prodigal while he still smelled like pigs, not waiting for him to mature through suffering first.
