"Doctors are God's way of healing now. Modern medicine replaced the need for supernatural intervention."
How it sounds in your head: God gave us medical science for a reason. Expecting supernatural healing when doctors are available seems irresponsible. Maybe miracles were for before modern medicine existed. Now God works through physicians and prescriptions.
"If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you."
-- Exodus 15:26Source: Rationalism that elevates human knowledge above God's power, making medicine God's substitute rather than supplement.
Medicine has tangible mechanisms of action and proven results. His generation saw antibiotics and vaccines conquer diseases. Trusting proven science seems wiser than waiting for miracles that might not come.
Asa became diseased in his feet, severely so. Instead of seeking the LORD, he sought only the physicians and died. The rebuke wasn't for using doctors but for ONLY seeking doctors and not seeking God - medicine without faith failed him.
I REFUSE the lie that medicine replaced God's healing. IT IS WRITTEN 'I AM the LORD who heals you' - present tense name and nature, not retired occupation. His identity as Healer hasn't changed because humans developed antibiotics. IT IS WRITTEN that King Asa erred by seeking ONLY physicians without seeking God. I'm grateful for medical knowledge, but it doesn't replace or limit God's supernatural power. Doctors treat symptoms; God heals at the root. I receive BOTH wisdom for treatment AND supernatural healing beyond what medicine can accomplish. God isn't limited to what humans can explain.
The Father isn't competing with medicine - He invented the human body doctors study and gave humans wisdom to develop treatments, but His supernatural power goes beyond human knowledge whenever He chooses. He's both IN science and BEYOND it.
