"Pursuing prosperity at my age distracts from preparing for eternity."
How it sounds in your head: Death is close. You should be focused on heaven, not earth. Wanting financial blessing now is missing the point. Real spiritual maturity means letting go of earthly things, not pursuing them.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Source: Gnostic theology that pits heaven against earth, false dichotomy between spiritual and physical blessing.
At 90+, eternity feels days away and pursuing earthly prosperity seems like majoring on minors. The pressure to be 'ready to die' makes desire feel carnal and distracting.
Abraham lived 175 years, RICH until the very end, then 'breathed his last and died in a good old age, an old man and full of years.' He didn't divest from earth to prepare for heaven. He died prosperous AND ready.
I REFUSE the lie that pursuing prosperity distracts from eternity. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT life NOW, not just heaven later. The BARAK blessing covers my earthly days, and God prepares a table for me HERE in the presence of my enemies. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 92:14 - the righteous bear fruit in old age and remain flourishing. I can be ready for heaven AND blessed on earth. Both. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and abundance NOW doesn't compete with eternity. The Father wants me enjoying His goodness until my final breath. I receive prosperity without guilt.
The Father doesn't want you disengaging from earth while you're still here. He wants you FEASTING at His table, cup overflowing, head anointed with oil, surrounded by His goodness. Your final chapter on earth isn't meant to be survival mode—it's meant to be ABUNDANCE.
