"Poverty keeps you humble and close to God—wealth would have ruined my walk with Him."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe God kept me poor to keep me dependent. Rich people drift from God. Struggle kept me praying. Prosperity might have destroyed my faith. This poverty was protective.
"The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."
-- Proverbs 10:22Source: religious lie that God uses poverty as discipleship tool + twisted prosperity-equals-pride teaching.
He's watched wealthy people leave the faith and poor people stay faithful. Poverty forced him to his knees daily, and he fears wealth would've made him self-sufficient.
Job lost everything, suffered immensely. God didn't leave him in poverty for humility—He restored DOUBLE everything he lost. Job's latter days had more blessing than his beginning, and he died old and full of days, wealthy and righteous simultaneously.
I REFUSE the lie that God used poverty to keep me humble. IT IS WRITTEN: The blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds NO sorrow—prosperity is God's plan, not His threat. Poverty wasn't protection; it was the curse Christ REDEEMED me from. IT IS WRITTEN: He gives me power to get wealth to establish His covenant. Abraham was wealthy and walked with God. Job was blessed double and stayed righteous. The barak blessing doesn't corrupt—it confirms God's goodness. I am blessed, humble, AND prosperous in Christ.
The Father doesn't poverty-proof your faith—He blesses you to display His goodness. Job's double restoration didn't ruin him. Abraham's wealth didn't distance him from God. The blessing reveals His nature, and He adds no sorrow with it. Poverty was never His protection plan.
