"I'll never escape this financial pit—it's just who my family is."
How it sounds in your head: You're in your forties and the debt, the struggle, the lack—it all feels like the family uniform you were born wearing. Every attempt to climb out slides you back to where you started. Maybe this IS just your family's story.
"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love."
-- Colossians 1:13Enemy stronghold: Family identity lie that makes poverty feel like your tribal badge instead of a defeated curse.
You look at your siblings, your cousins, your extended family—all struggling similarly. It feels like the family DNA. Every holiday gathering is people discussing money problems, never solutions. It's normalized.
Born in pain (his name meant 'pain'), more honorable than brothers but started in sorrow—prayed ONE prayer asking God to enlarge his territory and keep him from harm. God GRANTED his request. One prayer changed his entire destiny from pain to expansion.
I REFUSE the lie that my family's financial pit defines me. IT IS WRITTEN that I've been DELIVERED from darkness and CONVEYED into the Kingdom of God's Son. I'm not who my family was—I'm who CHRIST is. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm a new creation; old things passed away. The poverty identity is OLD. My NEW identity is righteous, blessed, prosperous, because I'm IN CHRIST. The Kingdom I live in has streets of gold, not streets of lack. I'm a citizen of HEAVEN, and Heaven has no poverty.
The Father has already pulled you OUT of the pit and seated you with Christ in heavenly places—the question isn't whether you'll escape, it's whether you'll believe you already have. He's celebrating your freedom while you're still smelling like the pit.
