"Other parents' kids came home, but mine won't because I don't have enough faith."
How it sounds in your head: You hear the testimonies—twenty years of praying and the prodigal returned. But they had faith you don't have. You doubt. You waver. You have bad days where you lose hope. Your faith isn't strong enough to move God. If you just believed harder, they'd come home.
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, 'Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'"
-- Mark 9:24Works-based faith that makes the size of your faith the determining factor, putting you in God's position and God in debtor's position.
Jesus said 'according to your faith be it unto you,' which sounds like faith is the currency. You can feel your doubt and fear, which seems like evidence your faith is insufficient. Other people's stronger faith must be why their kids came home and yours haven't yet.
Peter had enough faith to step out of the boat and WALK ON WATER, then immediately doubted and started sinking—yet Jesus didn't let him drown. He reached out and caught him. Even wavering faith mixed with doubt was enough for Jesus to work with and rescue.
I REFUSE the lie that my child's return depends on the size of my faith. IT IS WRITTEN: A father said 'I believe; help my unbelief' and Jesus still delivered his son. My faith isn't the foundation—GOD'S FAITHFULNESS is. It's not about my grip on God; it's about HIS grip on me and my child. IT IS WRITTEN: 'If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself' (2 Timothy 2:13). Even on my worst days of doubt, God's character doesn't change. The BARAK blessing isn't sustained by my belief—it's guaranteed by covenant. I declare that mustard-seed faith is enough, wavering faith is enough, even 'help my unbelief' faith is enough, because the God I'm trusting is FAITHFUL even when I'm not.
The Father isn't waiting for you to muster enough faith to unlock His movement. He's been moving all along, and your honest doubt doesn't offend Him—it invites His strength to be perfected in your weakness, because He knows faith is His gift to you, not your offering to Him.
