"Other dads must be doing something right that I'm missing."
How it sounds in your head: I see those families at church—their kids are respectful, engaged, thriving. What do they know that I don't? What are they doing at home that I failed to implement? I'm clearly missing something.
"But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another."
-- Galatians 6:4Comparison lie that measures blessing by visible outcomes rather than covenant promises, creating shame.
The evidence is right in front of you every Sunday. Other sons seem to be walking with God while yours is walking away, making you assume those fathers discovered some secret you missed.
Abraham had two sons—one walked with God (Isaac), one didn't initially (Ishmael). Same father, different paths. Yet God blessed BOTH because of the covenant with Abraham, proving outcomes aren't always about parenting technique.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm failing because other families look different. IT IS WRITTEN to examine my OWN work, not compare with others. Every child has their own journey. My son is under the BARAK blessing of Abraham by covenant—that doesn't change based on someone else's timeline. IT IS WRITTEN in Jeremiah 1:5 that God knew my son before he was formed and has a specific plan for HIM. I trust God's unique plan over comparison's condemnation. Other families don't determine my son's destiny.
The Father doesn't grade on a curve—He doesn't compare your son to anyone else's. He sees your boy's unique journey and is already writing the redemption story.
